Program (DRP). The center of the virion image links to the home page of John
M. Coffin, Ph.D., while the oval images around the virion link to the
home pages of the Program's senior scientific staff (counterclockwise
from the top): Along the left side of the home page are shown three-dimensional structures of the following virion proteins: (from the top) reverse transcriptase; protease; integrase; the Gag proteins nucleocapsid, capsid, and matrix; and the gp120 envelope protein. The colors of the structures correspond to the colors of the same components shown in the virion. The illustrations of the virion and all of the individual proteins except nucleocapsid and envelope were modified from those on the cover of the book Retroviruses, edited by John M.
